If you choose to use this tutorial as part of a project, please let me know the result. I shall post a link to your goggles here. Let me see your creative side.

Made without special materials or tools, for under forty dollars USD. Ideal for anyone with a taste for the Neo-Victorian and with too much time on their hands. Therefore, tinkering, deviating, and rule breaking are strongly encouraged.

Materials used:
2 mason jar lids (detachable rings like you often see on gourmet preserves.)
tan suede leather
brass belt buckle
4 rectangular brass links
1/2-inch strip sheepshide, unshaven. Sample was cut from a chair cover
A little black oil paint
14 capnuts, 1/4 inch wide
2 wingnuts
a pack of eyelets
Grey smoked Plexiglass

Note that all materials listed are suggestions, not requirements.

I really liked the whole tutorial! It was really helpful, and it was one that was actually the most helpful to myself. I immediately fell in love with these goggles. I have, unfortunately, yet to make them, but I believe that the ease of the tutorial will make the whole process rather smooth and stress free. I like how you leave enough leeway to allow many, if not uncounted changes to be made to suit a person's own preferences. I also am glad you were able to create these wonderful works of art with so few materials and money. I will definitely pass the word along. Long live the Streampunks...

I love it! It was soooo helpful with my costume project (steampunk) that i was making for an art project, and the costume i was wearing to the local (?) anime convention that was last month. I think you are really good on stuff like this, and i they looked at several of your other things and they are amazing! I love you all :)
I Love Your Art Work. Especially your steam punk stuff.
Lol now im basically just typing how much i like ur stuff to meet the minimum word count. lol. i think you should make more stuff like this :)

Would you still be willing to post a link to my googles even though they're not steampunk? Because I want to use this guide to make a set of 'night-vision' goggles for a cosplay I intend to use next year.

If you do not want to spend 12$ on plexiglass i can recommend cutting out a circle of any transparent CD or DVD Case. It requires a heavy duty scissors or metal cutter, but saves you about 11$.
