If you choose to use this tutorial as part of a project, please let me know the result. I shall post a link to your goggles here. Let me see your creative side.

Made without special materials or tools, for under forty dollars USD. Ideal for anyone with a taste for the Neo-Victorian and with too much time on their hands. Therefore, tinkering, deviating, and rule breaking are strongly encouraged.

Materials used:
2 mason jar lids (detachable rings like you often see on gourmet preserves.)
tan suede leather
brass belt buckle
4 rectangular brass links
1/2-inch strip sheepshide, unshaven. Sample was cut from a chair cover
A little black oil paint
14 capnuts, 1/4 inch wide
2 wingnuts
a pack of eyelets
Grey smoked Plexiglass

Note that all materials listed are suggestions, not requirements.

I've only seen a couple tutorials about making your own steampunk goggles and this is the best one so far! :D I really like how everything was step by step and the outcome was awesome! The instructions are clear and precise. I especially love the lunch bit though haha :).....writing critiques are hard :I i always run out of words towards the end!!! Oh yeah! These would go perfect with all the random ideas i come up with for steampunk fashion. Thank you very much for posting this :) I hope to see more sometime.
-sincerely with much admiration and very little words

I love it! It was soooo helpful with my costume project (steampunk) that i was making for an art project, and the costume i was wearing to the local (?) anime convention that was last month. I think you are really good on stuff like this, and i they looked at several of your other things and they are amazing! I love you all :)
I Love Your Art Work. Especially your steam punk stuff.
Lol now im basically just typing how much i like ur stuff to meet the minimum word count. lol. i think you should make more stuff like this :)

FenrisDesigns Featured By Owner May 29, 2011  Professional Digital Artist

lordinear Featured By Owner Apr 30, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
emm i'm just a kid so i dont ..really know what that diameter of a circle *weird sighn* + 1/2 inch means... and the next 2 steps with that paper whales ...math god..
or else i just love this tutorial its the best only that litle problem..
sorry to bother asking what it means
InsanityDoneWell Featured By Owner May 17, 2011
the "weird sign" is pi. it equals 3.14. if you drew a circle, and put a ruler to measure from one side to another, thats the diamiter.

so basically, that measurement times pi + half an inch.

the next ones are just drawing out what you're going to cut the leather like, but without cutting it wrong. It's just a template.

Hope that helps.
